Supporting a founder move on after years of building a successful business

Every business owner reaches a point where they ask themselves one question: what’s next?

For Ben Rowe, after years of early mornings, late nights and building a thriving local business, that question led to the successful sale of Repz Gym.

For many founders and entrepreneurs, selling a business represents years of hard work, personal investment and difficult decisions. Fisher Jones Greenwood advised the founder throughout the transaction, supporting him through one of the biggest decisions any business owner will make.

Established in Colchester, Repz Gym has built a loyal membership and strong reputation within the local community. The sale marks an important milestone for founder Ben Rowe, allowing the business to continue under new ownership while he embarks on the next chapter.

The seller was advised by Natasha Bhandari, Senior Associate on the corporate transaction and Senior Associate, Matthew Desborough on the property side, and Maisie Barnes, Apprentice Solicitor, assisting on the transaction.

The transaction required careful structuring and close coordination across a number of commercial and property matters to achieve a successful completion.

Ben Rowe commented: “Selling a business you’ve built over many years is a significant decision, and the legal process can be more involved than many people realise. Having clear advice and someone who manages expectations throughout made a real difference. Natasha was professional, approachable and always took the time to explain the options available, which gave me confidence to navigate a complex transaction and ultimately reach a successful completion.”

Natasha Bhandari, Senior Associate at Fisher Jones Greenwood, added:

“Business sales are rarely straightforward, there are always challenges to work through and commercial decisions to make, particularly as selling a business is one of the biggest decisions an owner will make. For a successful sale like this, it is critical to manage risk before and after the sale. It has been a privilege to assist Ben in passing over the business he has worked so hard to build and to help him move confidently into his next chapter.”
