ROL Cruise Invests in Workforce-Wide AI Training

ROL Cruise has invested in an organisation-wide Artificial Intelligence (AI) learning programme, with all 146 co-owners taking part in training designed to build their knowledge, confidence, and understanding of how to use AI responsibly to support their work.

Introduced to co-owners in July, the programme has been developed in partnership with Full Fathom Five, which works with businesses to educate teams about AI and identify real-world opportunities where the technology can provide practical solutions. More than 20 hours of training have since been delivered across 10 sessions, with further learning continuing throughout the business.

As an Employee Ownership Trust, ROL Cruise introduced the programme to ensure every co-owner can develop their understanding of AI as the technology continues to evolve. The focus is firmly on using AI to support the expertise of its people rather than replace it.

Initial company-wide sessions covered core areas including prompting, responsible use, data and privacy considerations, and identifying tasks where AI could provide useful support. A set of principles has also been established to guide the company’s responsible adoption and use of AI.

Rosie Cairns, CEO of ROL Cruise, said: “AI presents a huge opportunity for our business, but it’s never been about replacing the knowledge, experience and judgement of our co-owners. It’s about giving our people another tool that can support them in their roles and help them work more effectively.

“As an employee-owned business, investing in our people is incredibly important to us. I’m excited to see how our co-owners take what they’ve learnt and find practical ways to use it across the business.”

Alongside the company-wide training, ROL Cruise has appointed 15 AI Champions, with representation from every team across the business. Selected for their enthusiasm and interest in AI, the Champions meet monthly to explore practical applications, share ideas, and pass on their developing knowledge to colleagues.

Their learning has already progressed to practical application, with dedicated sessions exploring AI Agents and relevant use cases before the Champions took part in a hands-on session to begin building working Agents based on opportunities identified within their areas of the business.

Sarah Sperring, Company Culture Director at ROL Cruise, said: “From the outset, we wanted every co-owner to feel confident learning about AI, regardless of their role or previous experience. It’s been fantastic to see people embrace that opportunity, experiment with what they’ve learnt and share their knowledge with colleagues. This is just the beginning of how we will continue developing our understanding of AI.”
