La Spesa - a new name in Italian quality produce

SILVER linings to the 15-month Covid lockdown may be few and far between, but two Essex businessmen discovered a particularly mouth-watering one.

Peter Collins, director of Southend-based insurance broker, Bespoke Risk Solutions, and Phil O’Sullivan, founder of Proffer Marketing & Design, have created a new business, La Spesa, which imports the very finest artisan-made Italian cooking ingredients.

Peter explained: “Having spent so much time at home during the past 15 months, quality home cooking and mealtimes have become even more important than they were. Also so has finding quality produce for the recipes myself and my wife have been challenging ourselves to reproduce!

“In pre-Covid times I would often frequent any number of premium Italian restaurants in London who themselves would only use outstanding Italian traditional ingredients.

“Inspired by this, I spoke with a friend and expert in Italian grocery good, Phil O’Sullivan, and we decided to start a business, together, importing exactly these kind of stunning quality Italian artisan-made goods that are the bedrock of any wonderful Italian meal.

“From award-winning olive oils from the olive vines of Puglia or top-quality Balsamic Vinegars and Glazes from Modena, the home of the balsamic to all manner of truffle produce and right through to Italian biscuits and treats! Every product is made in Italy and of stunning quality.

“Initially these are for sale on Amazon Prime – so you can buy them with next-day delivery for your next great cooking adventure for everyone to use in their own kitchens!”

Phil added: “Italian cuisine is some of the finest in the world and relies on using the freshest, highest-quality ingredients. Our mission is to source and share these ingredients with other like-minded fans of fantastic food. We want La Spesa to be synonymous with quality.”
