- a business without a rateable premises
- a business which relies on close physical contact, like hairdressers, driving instructors, taxi drivers or personal care workers
- a limited company director who does not have a rateable premises, cannot be furloughed and continues to work to save their business.
Another option for businesses is the Essex County Council Business Adaptation Grant (BAG). It offers grants of up to £1,500 to help businesses adapt or be more viable in light of Covid-19 restrictions. It can be spent on equipment or operations that enable virtual operations, home working or customer safety.
